OCCASIONAL CATHOLIC TEACHERS

SYSTEM

• Qualifications to teach in Ontario
• Current Membership in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers
• Basic Qualifications in the Primary, Junior, Intermediate and/or Senior Divisions
• Completion of the following forms: Priest Reference Form from a Roman Catholic Parish, Faith Reference Form and Reflection Paper from NPSC’s Teacher Application Package

   

  Preferred Requirements:

• French as a Second Language Part 1
• Special Education Part 1
• A repertoire of current instructional and assessment strategies
• An understanding of the Ontario Catholic Curriculum and effective strategies to teach literacy and numeracy
• Proven ability to teach French-as-a-Second Language would be considered an asset
• Knowledge of and experience in implementing balanced literacy and the use of student data to drive instruction
• Knowledge and experience in utilizing student learning management systems such as Google Classroom, Google Meet as well as additional G-Suite digital tools and EDSBY, to facilitate instruction and effective communication with parents
• Proven ability to implement effective classroom management strategies
• Knowledge of and familiarity with the school environment would be an asset
