Chan Kagha Otina Dakota Wayawa Tipi School is a Nursery to Grade 12 school located in the Birdtail Sioux First Nation, approximately 4 hours west of Winnipeg. The school has a student population of 200 students with 15 teaching staff members.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor of Education Degree and Valid Manitoba Teaching Certificate (or eligibility for)
• Master’s Degree in Education/Administration and/or Certificate in School Leadership would be an asset
• At least five years of teaching experience and previous administration experience would be an asset
• Excellent understanding of current Manitoba Curricula and differentiated instruction
• Experience working in a northern community
• Knowledge of Indigenous Way of Life
• Proficiency in a variety of computer applications in a network environment and experience with and understanding of school-based technology
• Ability to work with teachers to promote and deliver inclusive schooling
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to effectively communicate with parents, the community and foster parental involvement
• Keen ability to identify and creatively solve problems
• Ability to work in partnership with community agencies
• Capacity to work in and respond to a demanding, fast-paced school environment
The role of the Vice-Principal is to support the Principal in the administration of all school related matters with respect to education, students and staff. While the primary language of operations is English, the Division promotes the learning and use of local Indigenous languages.
