J.F. Dion School

Northland School Division is seeking Substitute Teachers at J.F. Dion School for the 2024-2025 school year. The kindergarten to grade 6 school is located in the Fishing Lake Métis Settlement, one of only eight legislated Métis land bases with Métis governments established in Northern Alberta, Canada, and protected by legislation. Major Responsibilities include:

• Following the prescribed program of studies for each subject taught.
• Plan and execute daily lessons based on short, medium and long range planning.
• Provide feedback to students and parents in a regular, timely manner.
• Champion Cree language/culture revitalization and curriculum infusion.
• Support school-parent-community engagement.
• Possess strong interpersonal skills and commit to collaborative-decision making.
• Promote differentiated instruction to meet diversity in learning needs.

• Must hold or qualify for Alberta teaching certification and a Teaching Quality Standard certificate.
• Must hold a Bachelor of Education (BEd.) degree.
• Successful years of teaching experience in rural and/or Indigenous communities.
