Lakeland Catholic School Division invites applications for the position of Manager of Operations and Facilities . This leadership position plays a key role in ensuring that division facilities are safe, well maintained, and effectively support high-quality learning environments for students and staff.

Reporting to the Secretary-Treasurer , the Manager of Operations and Facilities is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of division facilities, grounds, maintenance programs, and capital projects. The position provides leadership to facilities and maintenance staff and works collaboratively with school administrators, contractors, and division leadership to support the long-term planning and management of division infrastructure.

This position will be based at the Lakeland Catholic Maintenance/Technology Office in Bonnyville, Alberta .

The anticipated commencement date for this position is June 1, 2026, or as mutually agreed upon.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Manager of Operations and Facilities is responsible for:

  • Overseeing the effective operation, maintenance, and stewardship of division facilities and grounds.
  • Providing leadership and supervision to facilities and maintenance staff across the division, including supporting staff development and performance.
  • Developing and implementing preventative maintenance programs for division buildings and infrastructure.
  • Planning, coordinating, and overseeing facility renovation, modernization, and capital construction projects.
  • Establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with Alberta Education, Alberta Infrastructure, and other partners, and acting as the division's liaison for capital planning and facilities projects.
  • Ensuring facilities comply with applicable federal, provincial, and municipal legislation, building codes, and safety regulations.
  • Managing vendor relationships and overseeing the work of contractors and service providers.
  • Preparing and managing operational and capital budgets related to facilities and maintenance.
  • Supporting the development of the division's long-term facilities and capital plans.
  • Coordinating procurement processes in accordance with applicable policies and government guidelines.
  • Responding to facility-related emergencies as required.
  • Working collaboratively with school administrators and division departments to address facility needs across the division.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate will possess:

  • A strong commitment to supporting the mission and values of Catholic education
  • Post-secondary education in engineering, facilities management, construction management, business administration, or a related discipline,
    or
  • Journeyperson certification in a related building trade (such as electrical, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, or a similar trade related to building systems), combined with progressive leadership experience in facilities or maintenance operations
  • A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in facilities operations, maintenance, construction, or a related field
  • Demonstrated leadership experience supervising staff and coordinating the work of contractors or service providers
  • Strong knowledge of building systems, preventative maintenance programs, and facility operations
  • Working knowledge of building codes, occupational health and safety requirements, and applicable legislation
  • Experience managing budgets, procurement processes, and capital projects
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with digital productivity tools (such as Google Workspace) and computerized maintenance or facilities management systems.
  • Project management or facility management certifications are considered an asset.
