Important Information for CUPE 1734 Members:
LA.11.7 Those twelve (12) month employees filling vacancies as a result of their applying to a job posting are to remaintwelve (12) months at their position. Ten (10) month employees are to remain in their position until the end of theschool year. This requirement can be waived with permission from the Superintendent responsible for HumanResource Services. This does not prevent employees from applying for a position or from applying for a promotionduring the twelve (12) month period.
Applicants will be deemed to have the educational qualifications, according to the job description for theclassification they are currently in, as per the terms of the current CUPE Local 1734 Collective Agreement. PermanentCUPE 1734 applicants will be considered first in the selection process.
Additional Information - Community and International Education Services (CIES):
The Community and International Education Services (CIES) hiring protocol allows teachers to teach and/oradministrate for two CIES sessions per school year and/or administrate one term/session at a time. Candidates willonly be allowed to teach and/or administrate a third session on an emergency basis in consideration of demand in aparticular subject area, course or administrative position. A session is defined as the time needed to deliver a 4 – 6week program (approximately 110 hours for credit courses) or the equivalent. CIES sessions include positions at e-Learning, Night School, Summer School, International Languages Secondary Credit and Elementary Non-CreditPrograms and Summer Institute.
As a condition of employment , and in accordance with the Education Act, anyone seeking employment or wanting tovolunteer must provide a satisfactory police record check. A Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) must becompleted by the police services in the jurisdiction in which you reside, this is based on your home address (onlyaccepted by police services within Canada); must be satisfactory to the YRDSB and completed within six (6) monthsprior to the scheduled start date. It is the candidates responsibility to provide the results to the Board uponinstruction.
