Summary Position
Contract: 1.0 FTE Term, Temporary
The Alberta Classical Academy is now accepting applications for a Tutor (Education Assistant) at our Eastgate Campus in Edmonton. This temporary role will likely commence in either September or October 2026 and span the remainder of the 2026/27 school year, ending June 28, 2027.
Alberta Classical Academy is one of Alberta’s newest public charter schools. It offers an academically rigorous liberal arts education focused on developing “the knowledge, virtues, and habits befitting free citizens.”
Position Summary
Reporting to the Campus Principal Educator, the Tutor is responsible for the provision of instructional support and student support as requested by teachers and the Principal.
Position Functions and Responsibilities
Including but not limited to:
Instructional Support
- Providing instructional support under the teacher’s guidance.
- Tracking and reporting student progress
- Diagnostic testing for reporting purposes
- Preparing instructional materials
- Teacher Support
- Marking and recording students’ work
- Assisting in the supervision of class work
- Communicating regularly with classroom teachers on student-related instructional issues
Student Support
- Reviewing of grade-appropriate curricular material with students as assigned by the teacher
- Providing additional support to those students as indicated by the teacher(s)
- Remains alert to all situations that may represent a risk to students, and deals with minor issues with students as required.
- Maintain confidentiality, and a patient, supportive and enthusiastic commitment to students.
- Other related duties as assigned, including but not limited to the supervision of students during recess and breaks
- Perform routine clerical and technical tasks.
- Monitor and ensure all library resources are in the software database.
- Repairs and maintains learning resources.
- Performs other assigned duties that are within the area of knowledge and skills required by the job description
Qualifications
Certification from or enrolment in a recognized post-secondary Educational Assistant Program is preferred. Preference will be given to candidates with school-based experience and candidates who demonstrate the following qualities:

Salary and Hours of Work
Salary
$40,833.60 with the potential for an increase based on relevant experience and education.
Hours of Work
The position requires 8 hours per day, five (5) days per week, in addition to any required staff meetings and related professional responsibilities.
