The Parkland School Division currently has a Full-time (1.0 FTE) Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Ecole Meridian Heights School in Stony Plain, Alberta.

The successful candidate will be reporting to the Principal and under the general supervision of a Teacher: Provides medical support and assistance to students who have physical disabilities, often presenting in combination with cognitive disabilities. Monitors and documents student health, assisting with the daily care & physical needs of the students. Consults with teachers and parents to assist with ongoing physical health of the student(s).
This specific assignment within Student Services involves supporting a medically fragile student entering Grade 1 who requires continuous monitoring and complex medical support by an LPN. In addition to following the student care plans, the LPN is an integral part of the school team and is expected to support the educational programming for the student, as well as provide general classroom support as needed. The successful candidate must be comfortable working independently.

a) Education:
i) Practical Nurse Program certificate
ii) Registration with the College of Practical Nurses (CLPNA)
iii) Non-Violent Intervention Certificate
b) Experience:
i)Previous experience is an asset

Knowledge & Skills
Licensure & Education: Must be a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) holding current registration in good standing with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Ongoing participation in courses, seminars, and specialized training related to complex pediatric care is expected.
Clinical Knowledge: Proven expertise in tracheal suctioning, ventilator management, continuous respiratory assessments, and pediatric G-tube operations. Experience supporting children with complex medical/cognitive disorders is a highly valued asset.
Educational Integration & Alternate Communication: Knowledge of or willingness to become proficient in the use of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems, assistive technology, visual aids, sign language, and picture exchange communication (PECS) to actively facilitate the student's non-verbal communication.
Core Competencies: Requires high levels of Communication, Interpersonal skills, Medical assessment skills, Problem solving, Teamwork, Client services skills, and Planning.
This position requires an original copy of a current clean criminal record check with vulnerable sector and an original copy of a child intervention record check.
This position is covered by the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Collective Agreement
Hours of Work: 35 hours/week (Monday to Friday)
Pay Rate: $38.72-$43.26/hour (Pay Group 7)
