Music Instructor - Piano
ROLE DESCRIPTION
Armbrae Academy is committed to providing students with meaningful opportunities to explore their interests, develop their skills, and grow in confidence through the arts. We are seeking enthusiastic and experienced Music Instructors to provide individual music lessons to students in piano.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled musician and educator who enjoys working with children and young people and is passionate about helping students develop their musical abilities, confidence, and enjoyment of music.
Position Details
- Lesson Days: Mondays and Fridays
- Lesson Hours: 3:30–6:00 p.m.
- Lesson Length: 30 minutes
- Student Ages: Grades 1–12
- Location: Armbrae Academy, Halifax, NS
Key Responsibilities - Provide engaging, age-appropriate individual music instruction.
- Develop lessons that reflect each student's experience, interests, goals, and learning style.
- Teach fundamental musical skills, including technique, music literacy, rhythm, and performance skills.
- Help students build confidence and develop a lasting appreciation for music.
- Prepare students for informal and formal performance opportunities, where appropriate.
- Maintain a positive, encouraging, and inclusive learning environment.
- Communicate professionally with students, families, and the school as needed.
- Ensure lessons begin and end on time and make effective use of the 30-minute instructional period.
Qualifications & Experience The ideal candidate will have:
- Strong musical proficiency in piano.
- Experience teaching children and/or adolescents in an individual or small-group setting.
- Relevant musical training, education, or professional performance experience.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A patient, encouraging, and student-centred approach.
- The ability to adapt instruction to students with varying levels of experience and ability.
- A commitment to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.
