Pembina Hills School Division is seeking a full-time CASA (Child and Adolescent Services Assessment) Classroom Teacher for the upcoming 2026/27 school year at École Barrhead Elementary School. The is a treatment-oriented program in partnership between the Government of Alberta, community partners, CASA, and School Divisions. CASA Mental Health addresses the need to bring services closer to the student by bridging a student’s mental health and classroom needs. The CASA Classroom teacher will work in collaboration with CASA staff as well as the staff at École Barrhead Elementary School, providing differentiated instruction to a multi-grade classroom of either Div 2 or 3 students, all under a Social-Emotional lens.  Duties are to commence August 27, 2026 and will end June 29, 2027.

The Division

Pembina Hills School Division (PHSD) provides education to approximately 3500 students in 11 community schools, two Hutterite Colony Schools and two Outreach Schools. PHSD also provides education to 1,300+ full-time and 5,300+ part-time school-aged students and adult students and nearly 4,600 students in the summer from within and beyond our borders, through our online school, Vista Virtual School.

  • Strong communication skills;
  • Experience or familiarity with analyzing data and using data to inform classroom instruction;
  • Strong collaboration and teamwork skills;
  • A growth mindset and the ability to accept and apply feedback in order to improve practice;
  • Supporting Individuals through Valued Attachments (SIVA trained) 

In addition to the expectations for all teachers, the following skills and experiences are considered an asset: 

  • Familiarity with Social-Emotional Learning and Trauma-Sensitive Practice;
  • Experience working with students diagnosed with mental health or social-emotional challenges;
  • Experience in a wide range of classrooms with diverse learning and regulation needs;
  • Teacher education and experience specific to English Language Arts and Numeracy would be considered an asset.
  • Experience planning for and delivering adapted programming and differentiation.
