Brochet School is a Nursery to Grade 9 school with approximately 175 students. Brochet is a picturesque and peaceful community located on the northeastern shore of Reindeer Lake. Access is via daily scheduled flights from Thompson, MB and by winter road. The community has a population of approximately 600 people with community services such as a Northern Store, nursing station, community hall/youth centre, baseball diamond and outdoor skating rink.

Working in collaboration with the classroom teacher, the Literacy and Numeracy Support Teacher provides the following services:

  • Programming support and development
  • Classroom support
  • Individualized and small group instruction
  • Assessments

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Education Degree and Valid Manitoba Teaching Certificate (or eligibility for)
  • Knowledge of structured literacy programming and research supported/evidence-based teaching practices 
  • Knowledge of the appropriate educational programming
  • Experience following an instructional scope and sequence and systematic teaching
  • Experience providing, creating and implementing individualized programming for At Risk students and students with special needs
  • Knowledge and experience with the Confident Learners Program through The Learning Bar
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • A strong background in formative assessment and data-driven instruction
  • Knowledge and implementation of cooperative learning/small group instruction
  • The ability to work alongside teachers, colleagues and contribute collaboratively as a team member
