A temporary part time (0.6) ELL Teacher is required by School District No. 60 (Peace River North) effective immediately until June 30, 2025. The assignment will be at Upper Pine Elementary/Jr. Secondary School.
Upper Pine is a K-8 school located at beautiful Rose Prairie, 30 minutes north of Fort St John. We enroll 190 students, 30% of whom are First Nations and 25% who are English as a second language. We have 11 teachers, 6 support staff, an administrative assistant, an ISSW, a principal, a Learning Assistant Teacher and a Librarian. Qualifications and Experience
Valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate (or eligible for)
Qualifications and demonstrated ability to teach the identified subjects
Experience with universal design and differentiation to meet the diverse needs of students
Excellent interpersonal, communications, collaboration and organization skills
Experience/training/knowledge of Social Emotional Learning.
Demonstrated ability to create a positive classroom community
contributing to a safe, caring, and healthy school where every student
feels a sense of belonging
Strong belief in the philosophy of inclusion and the potential of all students to learn
Understanding of the BC Curriculum and ability to plan both short-term and long-term in consideration of class composition
Willingness to work in a collaborative model with staff on the foundation of enhancing student learning
Demonstrated use of classroom management practices that are pro-active and maintain student dignity
Demonstrated use of assessment practices that promote student learning and maintain student dignity
Training and experience teaching ELL, ASD and knowledge of
materials and strategies appropriate for supporting students with ADHD,
FAS and behavior disorders
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others to support the learning of students with a wide variety of needs
Cultural Sensitivity: Ability to create an inclusive and respectful classroom environment
Patience and Empathy: Willingness to support students' language acquisition journey
Strong Communication Skills: Effective communication, both verbal and written, that adapts to the student's proficiency level
Differentiated Instruction: Ability to tailor instruction to meet diverse student needs
Strong Information Literacy Skills

Compensation
$2000 relocation allowance for teachers from BC, AB and Yukon and up to $4000 for teachers from other areas
$3,035 recruitment allowance (paid over 10 months of the school year, based on the FTE)
Salary as per collective agreement. Current salary grid is $65,397 - $111,952
Benefits as per collective agreement with option to enroll in medical, dental, extended health, and group life insurance. Benefits are employer paid based on FTE
Isolation allowance of $296.82 paid over 10 months
