Position: Indigenous Educational Assistant Description: BCGEU

Location: Fort Nelson Secondary School

Status: Part Time Term Appointment –.8214 FTE (5hrs

& 45 mins/day)

The starting wage for this position is $ 26.34.

Commencement Date: ASAP, to June 25, 2026

The role of the Indigenous Education Assistant is to support the learning, well- being, and success of Indigenous students in the school. The ideal candidate will have an existing connection to our local Indigenous communities; high regard for Indigenous peoples and culture; a willingness to learn about and engage with local Indigenous families and communities; and be a strong advocate for Indigenous students in our school district. The applicant must be comfortable communicating with learners' caregivers. Candidates will be interviewed for the position; preference will be given to qualified applicants of Indigenous ancestry.

Qualifications:

1. Secondary School graduation.

• Previous experience in working with children.
• Ability to organize work effectively.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students and staff.
• Ability to handle and maintain all information with a high degree of confidentiality.
• Equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Familiarity with Indigenous culture is an asset.
• Clear Criminal Record Check.
