Job Posting: Custodian (Evening Shift – Full -Time, 8 Hours/Day)
Location : Alexandra Middle School, Medicine Hat, Alberta
Schedule : Monday to Friday, 3:30 PM – 11:30 PM
Hours per Week : 40
Employment Type: Full-Time, Unionized (CUPE)

About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and dependable Custodian to join our team and help maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming school environment. As a custodian, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational mission of our school by ensuring our facilities are clean, secure, and well-maintained.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform daily cleaning and sanitizing of classrooms, restrooms, offices, and common areas
- Maintain cleaning equipment and restock supplies
- Ensure building security and assist with facility safety
- Report maintenance issues and safety concerns
- Support event setup and takedown, and assist with furniture moves
- Perform seasonal tasks such as snow shoveling and outdoor maintenance
- Conduct minor maintenance on building systems and furniture repairs
- Collaborate with staff and project a positive image of the school
What We're Looking For: - High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 6 months of custodial or building maintenance experience preferred
- Valid WHMIS certification
- Working knowledge of cleaning procedures, tools, and safety regulations
- Ability to operate custodial equipment (e.g., auto scrubbers, vacuums, floor burnishers)
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Outlook)
- Strong organizational, communication, and people skills
- A demonstrated ability to work efficiently and effectively
- Physically capable of lifting, bending, climbing, and standing for extended periods
- The successful applicant will be required to provide a police information check with vulnerable sector as well as complete job specific pre-employment testing as a condition of the job offer.
