Wagalus School is a vibrant elementary school; serves preschool to Grade 7 with approximately 40 students located in the Fort Rupert Village on the northern coast of beautiful Vancouver Island. The school provides quality and relevant educational programs and services that weaves Kwak’wala and Kwakiutl culture throughout the curriculum. Staff collaborate to meet the individual needs of our students while preparing them to be successful in the 21st Century. The front of the school features a traditional big house that is the “heart of the school” which welcomes students, staff and visitors to our learning environment. Bachelor Education Degree (elementary)
BC Teacher Certification
Primary teaching Experience – minimum of 3 years, preferably in a First Nations School
In-depth knowledge of the new BC Ed curriculum, and other educational programs
Innovative, creative, team player and resourceful
Strong organizational and planning skills to accommodate multi-grades and diverse needs
Experience working with First Nation children
Knowledge of literacy and numeracy programs and best practices
Clear Criminal Record Check for working with vulnerable populations.
