Position :
- Grade 7/8 Self-Contained Classroom
Required teaching qualifications:
- A valid Ontario College of Teachers Certificate
- A valid Certification of Registration from the Ontario College of Teachers
- Intermediate Qualifications
- Special Education Specialist
Position Criteria:
- Demonstrated ability to work with youth who require support with re-engagement, self-regulation, behavior management, social-emotional skills development and self-advocacy
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a part of a multi-disciplinary team including working with community partners
- Ability to utilize differentiated and experiential instruction to support a wide variety of student learning needs
- Ability to write and implement Individual Plans of Care, Education Plans, Transition Plans, Behaviour Management Plans and Safety Plans
- Knowledge of Ministry Curriculum and Assessment documents
- Evidence of supporting Literacy and Numeracy from a whole school perspective
- Demonstrated ability to support student mental health and well-being needs
- Deomnestrated ability to utilize EDSBY to support student learning and caregiver communication
- Competencies with board-supported and available technology and communication tools (For example, LMS, iPad, Microsoft 365)
- Knowledge of trauma-informed instructional practices and approaches and/or experience with students who’ve experienced trauma, considered an asset
