The NNDSB invites applications for the following LTO position until June 27, 2024:

Position :
  • Grade 7/8 Self-Contained Classroom

Required teaching qualifications:

  • A valid Ontario College of Teachers Certificate
  • A valid Certification of Registration from the Ontario College of Teachers
  • Intermediate Qualifications
  • Special Education Specialist

Position Criteria:

  • Demonstrated ability to work with youth who require support with re-engagement, self-regulation, behavior management, social-emotional skills development and self-advocacy
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a part of a multi-disciplinary team including working with community partners
  • Ability to utilize differentiated and experiential instruction to support a wide variety of student learning needs
  • Ability to write and implement Individual Plans of Care, Education Plans, Transition Plans, Behaviour Management Plans and Safety Plans
  • Knowledge of Ministry Curriculum and Assessment documents
  • Evidence of supporting Literacy and Numeracy from a whole school perspective
  • Demonstrated ability to support student mental health and well-being needs
  • Deomnestrated ability to utilize EDSBY to support student learning and caregiver communication
  • Competencies with board-supported and available technology and communication tools (For example, LMS, iPad, Microsoft 365)
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed instructional practices and approaches and/or experience with students who’ve experienced trauma, considered an asset
