Mel Johnson School is a Nursery to Grade 12 school with approximately 117 students located in the community of Wabowden which is a one hour drive south of Thompson, Manitoba along Provincial Highway #6. This attractive community of approximately 500 residents is surrounded by scenic attractions such as Sasagiu Rapids and Pisew Falls and the area’s natural beauty and clean lakes provide for an abundance of outdoor recreation opportunities. The community also offers services such as a grocery store, health centre and hotel.

This position will teach Grades 1-12 Physical Education as well as some High School courses.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Education Degree
• Valid Manitoba Teaching Certificate (or eligibility for)
• A sound knowledge of provincial curricula
• Previous teaching experience
• Strong classroom management skills
• Knowledge of Indigenous Way of Life
• Experience working with students with unique needs
• A commitment to differentiated instruction
• A willingness to inquire into best practices and reflect on practices
• A team player committed to the belief that all students can learn
• Self-motivated
