The Maintenance Services Department of the Simcoe County District School Board is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Heating Serviceperson (BAS/Heating Technician). Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor Mechanical, while working in a multi-disciplinary team this position provides emergency, preventive and planned maintenance services to heating and HVAC systems and components throughout the Simcoe County District School Board area. This service position will be required to work after hours on-call.

Salary Range: $30.09 - $32.91 per hour (BAS/Heating Technician rate)

Qualifications and Skills Required

1 A current Certificate of Qualification as a Gas Fitter (G1) is mandatory to be considered for this position;

2 Ability to read, write and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings and schematics;

3 Experience with troubleshooting, service and repair of hydronic heating systems, HVAC and refrigeration, plumbing, gas, and oil burners, as well as associated auxiliary equipment and controls;

4 Knowledge in the components and control sequences of boilers, chillers, air handlers, hot water heating system components, DDC controls;

5 Computer literacy and ability to work effectively with a variety of computer software programs, such as MS Word, Excel, Outlook, MS Teams, and the Facility Services Computerized Maintenance Work order system;

6 Ability to work as a team member in a multi-disciplined team and with staff, students, and general public;

7 The successful incumbent will be required to be on-call after hours on a rotational basis;

8 A valid Ontario Drivers Licence is a requirement and proof thereof will be requested on hiring.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

1. Working at Heights fall arrest safety training;

2. Lock out tag out/Control of hazardous energy;

3. Building Automations Systems.

The duties, responsibilities and requirements for this position are not limited to the above but may also include all of those in the Job Description for Heating Serviceperson (BAS Heating Technician). This position will be required to be on-call and/or work after hours where required to assist with operational needs. Compensation will be provided for on-call work in accordance with the CUPE collective agreement. SCDSB Training to be completed as required.
