POSITION: Work Experience/Apprenticeship Coordinator Teacher
APPOINTMENT: 0.2 FTE Temporary
DURATION: September 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025
Summary: This teacher is responsible for Work Experience, Secondary School Apprenticeship (SSA), and transitions to trades and post-secondary programs. This position requires travel within and outside the district.
Qualifications Required:
- degree in secondary education;
- current knowledge of work experience 11/12, SSA, and post-secondary transitions programs including dual credit courses;
- demonstrated understanding of Ministry Graduation Program requirements;
- ability to work with business organizations, labour unions, post-secondary educational institutions, government and private agencies, and other school districts (must have the ability to meet with these partner groups on and off site);
- ability to model, teach and foster social, emotional and cultural awareness;
- knowledge of current 21st century pedagogy and assessment practices;
- demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment and contribute to the professional community at the school and district level;
- effective communication, interpersonal, organizational and classroom management skills;
- ability to integrate technologies and digital citizenship into educational programs; and
- BC Professional Teaching Certificate and current eligibility for Teacher Qualification Service card.
