Qualified - $45.04/hr

Unqualified - $33.78/hr

July 8 - July 26th, 2024 (possibility of extension)

8:30 am-12:00 pm (Plus 1 hour of preparation per day)

Applications are invited “in anticipation” of Summer Learning Programs for students SK - Grade 3 in the following communities:

  • Kenora
  • Dryden
  • Sioux Lookout
  • Red Lake

Responsibilities

Student Learning Teachers will lead and collaborate with team members to plan, prepare and provide positive learning opportunities for all students that are inclusive, diverse and equitable.

Student Learning Teachers will plan, instruct, assess and communicate student learning in both areas of Literacy and Numeracy. Literacy instruction will focus on planning and delivery of practice and programs that are evidence-based and align with the Science of Reading.

Teachers need to be prepared to participate in virtual or in-person training and learning sessions around evidence-based Literacy practice, programs and assessment.

Summer Learning Teacher priorities include:

  • leading Summer Learning team with an overall vision of student success, achievement and well-being
  • leading and collaborating with team to plan, design and implement the program
  • providing and promoting culturally relevant instruction, materials, and resources
  • planning, promoting and delivering engaging, hands on, experiential learning opportunities
  • planning for and providing learning opportunities that are inclusive and equitable for all students
  • planning for and providing learning opportunities with awareness of Indigenous perspectives
  • collecting evidence of student learning growth, using triangulation of data
  • preparing and communicating with parents, and to the Summer Learning Administrator, student growth, progress, achievement, and next steps - may require input and presentation of student data in charts, reports, digital data platforms
  • compilation and reporting of student learning data
  • communication with previous classroom teacher(s) and next year’s teacher(s) around student’s achievement, strengths, interests, and any other information relevant to student achievement and success
  • planning for and delivery of evidence-based Literacy and numeracy programs
  • planning and providing literacy and numeracy learning activities throughout the day
  • communicating with Summer Learning Administrator Lead and team members
  • ·other duties as required to meet the needs of the students and the program

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Primary/Junior or Junior/Intermediate qualifications
  • additional knowledge and/or qualifications in Literacy (science, evidence-based practices), Numeracy, and Culturally Relevant and Responsive Practices
  • additional knowledge in School Mental Health Ontario practices, Restorative Practice, and Self-Regulation
  • OCT certificate, or pending certification - member must be in good standing
