About the School:

Fort McMurray Christian School is an alternative faith-based program within the Fort McMurray Public School Division. The school serves 240 students from Early Childhood Development (ECDP) to grade 9.

The goals of the school are:

  • To provide students with an education based on Scripture. The Christian perspective is integrated into all aspects of study.
  • To acknowledge the Lordship of Christ and to develop the students’ understanding of their own relationship to God as well as their relationship to others and creation.
  • To provide an education that allows children to reach their potential academically, spiritually, emotionally, socially and physically.
  • To direct students in the development of Christ-like character.
  • To prepare students to be of service in the community.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

The Ideal Candidate would possess the following background, philosophy, and experience:

  • Demonstrated leadership at the school or division level.
  • Awareness of the Fort McMurray Christian School’s Vision Document and Mission Statement and could actively support both
  • Ability to work with teachers to integrate a Christian worldview in an Alternative program as outlined by the Mission and Vision of the Fort McMurray Alternative Program
  • Ability to integrate Christian faith and learning
  • Passion to promote faith-based programming which would lead to student enrollment growth
  • Experience working with Indigenous and other diverse cultural groups.
  • Evidence of a student centered philosophy.
  • An ability and commitment to work as a member of a team in a collaborative work environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of inclusive classrooms.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of effective assessment practices.
  • Involvement in community events/volunteerism.
  • Knowledge and experience in Special Education.
  • Strong technology skills including PowerSchool familiarity.
  • Commitment to community partnerships.
  • An ability to establish productive relationships with parents.
  • A commitment to assessment for learning.
  • A commitment to continuous professional growth.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and problem solving skills.
  • Successful teaching experience with a focus on results.
  • Related post-graduate studies preferred, completed or working on a Master’s degree.
  • Knowledge of the Teacher Quality Standard and the Leadership Quality Standard and demonstrated adherence to both standards.
