The York Region District School Board (YRDSB) supports a flexible working culture and currently provides the opportunity for employees to work from home in addition to working in the office for some positions. The YRDSB implemented a Working From Home Guidelines to facilitate this work option.

In compliance with Board policies and procedures, responsible for assisting in the administration and implementation of the Board’s overall policy on Pension, Benefit, Leave and Data Specialist teams.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To review and assess data entry for the purpose of quality assurance and identify and produce audits or audit requirements to ensure data integrity.
  • Assist in the review, analyzing, updates, audits, and document processes, procedures and practices surrounding the work of these teams as required for training and reference purposes.
  • To assist in the research, analyzing and presenting data that is necessary for effective and efficient administration of all benefit, pension, leave, or ministry reporting functions.
  • To assist the Supervisor, Pension, Benefits and Leaves and to participate in various internal and external meetings, projects and serve on committees, as required.
  • Provide a backup for positions on the team and task overflow for the purpose of meeting deadlines and assist in the day-to-day inquiries and tasks within the team.
  • To assist in providing in-house support and guidance on pension, benefits, leaves and ministry issues to staff within Human Resource Services as required.
  • Assist in the ongoing maintenance of desk procedure retention.
  • To facilitate workshops, seminars, and the new hire orientation sessions.
  • To draft correspondence and prepare reports in relation to pension, benefit, leaves and ministry reporting teams as required.
  • The ability to deal effectively with a variety of individuals and groups both within and outside the Board is required.
  • To assist in updating benefit carriers and administrators of ELHT on changes to collective agreements that affect benefit plans; and act as liaison and resource to the benefits administrators and carriers as required.
  • To perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A three-year college diploma in human resources management or a related discipline is required, or equivalent, as approved by the Board.
  • Minimum three years’ human resources or related experience is required.
  • Effective verbal and written communication, interpersonal, organizational, presentation and computer skills are required.
  • Ability to work in a team and individually.
  • Analytical nature and high proficiency on excel including the use of many formulas (IF and Vlookup as an example).

Additional Information for CUPE 1734 Employees:

LA.11.7 Those twelve (12) month employees filling vacancies as a result of their applying to a job posting are to remain twelve (12) months at their position. Ten (10) month employees are to remain in their position until the end of the school year. This requirement can be waived with permission from the Superintendent responsible for Human Resource Services. This does not prevent employees from applying for a position or from applying for a promotion during the twelve (12) month period.
