The Waterloo Region District School Board is seeking qualified Secondary Occasional Teachers (Intermediate/Senior) who provide evidence of meaningful experiences working with adolescents and/or youth.

Only retired WRDSB Secondary Teachers are eligible to apply to this Posting. If successful you will be eligible to supply teach only at the school you have retired from. If you wish to be eligible to supply teach at all WRDSB secondary schools, you must apply to the regular Secondary OT Posting.

In order to be eligible to this posting you must have retired within the last five (5) years. If you retired more than five (5) years ago you must apply to the regular Secondary OT Posting.

Appointments will be effective upon receipt of OCT certification confirmation in Good Standing and required documentation from successful candidates.
Candidates with Primary/Junior or Junior/Intermediate qualifications only are not eligible to apply.

Candidates must be available to begin occasional teaching immediately upon successful placement on the Retired Secondary Occasional Teacher Roster.

There is no interview involved in this application process. An internal screening process will occur to determine successful applicants. Only successful applicants will be contacted.

Application packages must include:

  • Two References from the School you retired from.

It is the expectation of the Board that you know and adhere to the rules of the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan (TPP). It would be advisable to contact them about working after you retire as there is a limit on the number of days you can work in a school year after retirement without interrupting your pension.

In the event that the WRDSB makes an offer of employment, please be advised that it is the practice of the Board that your employment will not start until the Board has received a police check and the Board is satisfied that there are no criminal convictions which would preclude your employment.
