The Fort McMurray Roman Catholic Separate School Division is seeking a temporary full-time high school dance teacher for the 2024-25 school year who have experience in teaching any or all levels of Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical, Pointe, Creative Movement, Hip-Hop, Acro and Jr. Ballet/Jazz.

Qualifications
- Must be eligible for Alberta Teacher Certification and hold a Bachelor of Education Degree
- Accredited Dance Teaching Certification (R.A.D., S.R.B., C.D.T.A., I.S.T.D., etc…) Program and/or Practical teaching experience
- Degree or Diploma in Post Secondary Dance is an asset
- Strong relationship building skills
- Flexible and adaptable
- Organized and able to meet deadlines in accordance with the school schedule
- Commitment to education and excited to work with students each day
- Possess the ability to coach and mentor the dance assistants
- Experience as a choreographer and/or competition judge are assets
Responsibilities
- identify students’ individual and collective learning needs
- plan and deliver instruction based on student learning needs and special needs
- provide a stimulating learning environment in which each student can experience growth and develop to his or her potential
- help students learn appropriate knowledge, skills and attitudes.
- meet with parents
- evaluate and communicate student progress
- prepare and implement remedial programs for students requiring extra help
- meet with other professionals to discuss individual student needs and progress
- volunteer to supervise extracurricular and after-school activities
- attend meetings, seminars, and in-service training sessions.
- Select appropriate music for class and year end show
- Promote a healthy lifestyle while keeping a positive classroom environment
- Work with team members to plan events for students and the studio
The successful candidate will be required to provide a Criminal Reference Check and a Vulnerable Sector Check. FMCSD will contact past and present employers for references. All FMCSD employees are expected to be computer literate; this includes fluency with e-mail, Internet and MS Office.
