The Fort McMurray Roman Catholic Separate School Division is seeking a temporary full-time high school dance teacher for the 2024-25 school year who have experience in teaching any or all levels of Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical, Pointe, Creative Movement, Hip-Hop, Acro and Jr. Ballet/Jazz.

Qualifications


  • Must be eligible for Alberta Teacher Certification and hold a Bachelor of Education Degree
  • Accredited Dance Teaching Certification (R.A.D., S.R.B., C.D.T.A., I.S.T.D., etc…) Program and/or Practical teaching experience
  • Degree or Diploma in Post Secondary Dance is an asset
  • Strong relationship building skills
  • Flexible and adaptable
  • Organized and able to meet deadlines in accordance with the school schedule
  • Commitment to education and excited to work with students each day
  • Possess the ability to coach and mentor the dance assistants
  • Experience as a choreographer and/or competition judge are assets


Responsibilities


  • identify students’ individual and collective learning needs
  • plan and deliver instruction based on student learning needs and special needs
  • provide a stimulating learning environment in which each student can experience growth and develop to his or her potential
  • help students learn appropriate knowledge, skills and attitudes.
  • meet with parents
  • evaluate and communicate student progress
  • prepare and implement remedial programs for students requiring extra help
  • meet with other professionals to discuss individual student needs and progress
  • volunteer to supervise extracurricular and after-school activities
  • attend meetings, seminars, and in-service training sessions.
  • Select appropriate music for class and year end show
  • Promote a healthy lifestyle while keeping a positive classroom environment
  • Work with team members to plan events for students and the studio


The successful candidate will be required to provide a Criminal Reference Check and a Vulnerable Sector Check. FMCSD will contact past and present employers for references. All FMCSD employees are expected to be computer literate; this includes fluency with e-mail, Internet and MS Office.
