Early Child Educator (ECE)
Job Description
Phil & Jennie Gaglardi Academy is a Preschool to Grade 12 Christian educational institute located in the Comox Valley. The preschool is located off our main campus at 1105 Pritchard Road, Comox BC, and operates Monday to Friday 8 am to 4 pm August to July. Our ECEs are eligible for the ECE wage enhancement program.
Responsibilities:
● Assist in the daily operation of the preschool which includes:
o Assist in performing a safety check
▪ Water and Playground
o Assist in preparing centers (depending on the day)
▪ Art, Science, Math, Literacy, Social
o Assist children with tasks
o Assist in classroom management and dealing with behaviors
o Assist in Circle time o Assist with classroom cleaning o Assist with daily attendance
● Collaborate with the Preschool Director and other teachers
● Contributing to the curriculum developed in collaboration between Preschool Director and Gaglardi’s Kindergarten team
o Planning a month’s curriculum at a time.
● Assist in ensuring that the property is well-maintained.
● Assist in managing supplies and inventory
● Assist in creating event highlights for the school website and social media.
● Adhering to Licensing policies

o Ensure their certifications are up to date
o Pursue professional development opportunities
o Assist with monthly Fire drills and quarterly Earthquake drills Requirements:
● Early Childhood Education Certification (1 year or 5 years)
● A Clear Ministry of Justice Criminal Record Check
● First Aid Certification with CPR-C and AED
● Love for children and a passion for teaching
● Love for Jesus and attending a church
● Flexibility in working with children, other educators, and the Preschool Director
● Teachability and ability to learn from co-workers
