Subject Area Coordinator - Literacy

Management and Non-Union Position

Pay Band 7 ($3 412 to $4 128 bi-weekly)

Under the direction of the Director of Curriculum and Instruction, the successful candidate will be responsible for guiding and supporting the implementation of the literacy curriculum for grades K-12 across Anglophone North School District.

Areas of Responsibility:

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate initiatives and resources to enhance curriculum delivery and learning.
  • Coordinate, plan and monitor the implementation of provincial and district initiatives.
  • Identify professional learning needs.
  • Plan, coordinate, and support professional learning.
  • Collect and analyze data to support strategic planning.
  • Respond to inquiries and concerns from schools, parents/community.
  • Collaborate with the ASD-N curriculum team to provide instructional leadership across the district.
Qualifications:
  • Master of Education or be working towards a Masters.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in teaching in the public school system and in progressive leadership roles.
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.
Desirable Qualities:
  • Knowledge of and teaching experience using best practices in literacy.
  • Knowledge of curriculum development and implementation, with a focus on literacy.
  • Wide variety of recent Professional Learning experiences, as a participant and facilitator.
  • Skilled in the use of data to support strategic planning.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with professional staff.
  • Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to facilitate meetings and workshops.
  • Ability to work as a team member.
  • Administrative and/or leadership experience.
