Position Summary

UNISUS School is seeking a Middle Years Teacher to teach Grades 8–9 beginning in September 2025. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality instruction in Mathematics, Science and Social Studies, fostering conceptual understanding, problem-solving skills, and curiosity about the world. This teacher will have an exceptional skill set for Math instruction, helping prepare students for the rigorous IB Diploma Programme.

Experience with the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) is an asset but is not required . Candidates with experience teaching middle school Math Science and Social Studies in other recognized curricula are strongly encouraged to apply.


Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, student-centered instruction in Math and Science for Grades 8–9
  • Encourage inquiry-based learning, critical thinking, and real-world application of concepts
  • Assess and evaluate student learning using formative and summative methods
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and provide timely, constructive feedback
  • Support students' social, emotional, and academic development
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure curriculum alignment and student success
  • Communicate effectively with parents and participate in conferences
  • Participate in professional development, co-curricular activities, and school events


Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Science, Education, or a related field
  • Teaching certification recognized in an English-speaking country
  • Must hold, or be eligible for, a BC Certificate of Qualification or an Independent School Subject-Restricted Teaching Certificate
  • Experience teaching Grades 8–9 Math, Science and Social Studies
  • IB MYP experience is an asset but not required
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to differentiate instruction and integrate technology to enhance learning
  • Experience in an independent, international, or multicultural school setting is considered an asset


Hours of Work
  • Full-time teaching position aligned with the academic calendar, including Winter, Spring, and Summer Breaks
  • Additional hours required for parent meetings, professional development, co-curricular activities, and school events
