JOB TITLE: Information Technology Services Technician : Level 2

LOCATION: District

ASSIGNMENT: TEMPORARY 40.00 hours per week, 12 months per year.

Commencement date to be determined, ending August 13, 2025.

JOB FUNCTION: Installs, supports and maintains computer systems, networks and equipment including, but not limited to, databases, directory services, network security, device management, network infrastructure, communication. Provides computer and devices support, technical assistance, development and training on systems applications and report processing to end users. Analyzes and tests existing systems, defines user requirements and specifications. Recommends, monitors, supports and revises projects and provides technical information and IT expertise.

REPORTING TO: District Principal of Information Technology

ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK:

1. Examples Plans, designs, installs and maintains technology systems and databases. (Wireless, LAN & WAN networking, communication platforms & hardware, cloud services, servers & backups, end user devices & peripherals)

2. Designs, programs and maintains custom software solutions.

3. Performs database administration functions to ensure information integrity.

4. Liaises with ministries, district managers, school administrators, site contacts and outside agencies on technical and software issues.

5. Analyses and evaluates existing or proposed computer and network systems and user requirements for the collection, processing, analysis and reporting of data and information.

6. Conducts needs assessment to define user requirements for modifications to existing systems and design of new systems and procedures.

7. Conducts problem analysis and proposes solutions. Prepares detailed program specifications for approved systems projects. Monitors quality of systems, products and resources. Revises and corrects issues.

8. Develops and maintains documentation and instruction manuals. Provides training and communicates complex IT concepts.

9. Installs and applies tools and procedures to measure system performance. Recommends or takes appropriate action.

10. Writes custom scripts applications using various programming languages.

11. Ensures compliance with privacy policy and legislation by providing solutions on IT system security including firewalls, anti-virus, user rights and disaster recovery.

12. Provides input on technology strategies, plans, standards, service-level agreements and training requirements. Proposes modifications to existing systems and/or design of new solutions.

REQUIRED ABILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Grade 12.

2. Bachelor's degree in computer science or computer engineering (equivalent to 4 years post-secondary education in IT related field).

3. 4 years recent experience in systems analysis, application and systems programming.

4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

5. Remaining current in the field.

6. Work independently with minimal supervision as well as working as part of a team.

7. BC Class 5 Driver’s License.
