This full-time (10 month) position is effective starting on August 29, 2024. The successful applicant will provide educational interpretation for students with profound hearing loss. This role will facilitate the student’s language acquisition by providing access to, and by modelling, ASL in a variety of school settings. The Educational Interpreter will bring educational activities to the student’s linguistic level. They will provide visual presentation of what is being said to students who are deaf or hard of hearing using various modes of communications such as cues, sign language, finger spelling or oral interpretation and verbal communication from these students to others, to assist with language acquisition and the attainment of academic concepts, and facilitate activities that contribute to school life experience. Along with experience working with individuals with profound hearing loss, applicants must have high level fluency and proficiency in American Sign Language, which is required to interpret elementary school curriculum in the regular program classes for the student.
