Crofton House School is seeking an experienced elementary school educator to teach French as an additional language. French is taught in the Junior School from Grade 1-7. The grade levels for this position will be determined by the strengths and experiences of the candidates and the right fit for the program. You will be part of a collaborative teaching team supporting the positive growth and development of young girls in the Junior School. Responsibilities:
● Teach French as an additional language
● Work with Junior School students; the grade level will be determined based on candidate strengths and program needs.
● Establish lively, engaging classes
● Integrate French culture into lessons
● Ensure continuity of language learning competencies in a vertical and horizontal manner across the Junior School in collaboration with colleagues
● Collaborate with all Junior School teachers
● Differentiate expectations for language learners
● Implement and integrate instructional technology to support learning
● Implement the BC Curriculum for French as a second language, with a focus on the application of the Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling approach.
● Participate in the Junior School co-curricular program
Requirements/ Qualifications:
● Native-like French language skills (oral and written)
● Familiarity with TPRS an asset
● B.C. Ministry of Education Certificate or Independent School Certification
● Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
● Understanding of how to support diverse learning styles at an elementary level
● Collaborative and energetic with a passion for teaching
● Excellent written and oral communication skills
● Demonstrated ability to be innovative, flexible, highly organized with attention to detail
● Energy, commitment, and readiness to participate in the co-curricular program and the diverse life of the school community
Employment and Application Details:
Classes begin in September 2024 following teacher orientation in late August 2024.
Employees of Crofton House School receive competitive compensation and support for professional, educational and leadership development. Compensation: $63,033 - $111,707 depending on experience and education.
