This position is 1.0 PY (full-time position).

Located in the picturesque hamlet of Cambridge Bay, Kiilinik High School serves the community of Cambridge Bay. The school has a population of approximately 220 students in a 7-12 setting with a staff of 24. The school and community are steeped in a rich history of Inuit culture.

Required qualifications:

  • Must be bilingual in English and Inuinnaqtun
  • Grade 12 Graduate or demonstrated proficiency
  • Candidate must be eligible for Nunavut Teaching Certificate ie. Letter of Authority

Desired qualifications:

        • Bachelor of Education Degree
        • Experience and / or training with current assessment methods
        • Evidence of differentiated instruction and inclusive practices
        • Experience and / or training in classroom management practices and the development of positive learning environments (eg. Restitution, Tribes, Positive Effective Behavior Supports, etc.)
        • Cross-cultural and/or northern teaching experience
        • Evidence of training and / or experience in the area of Balanced Literacy at the elementary level
        • Training and / or teaching experience in an English Language Learner (ELL) environment
        • Evidence / experience building positive relationships with students, colleagues, parents, stakeholders
        • Ability to integrate local cultural values
        • Subject, knowledge, training or experience in Inuinnaqtun

Please note: Subsidized housing is available but sharing may be required.

The salary for an Aboriginal Language Certificate holder ranges from $69,659 prorated/annum. to $84,073 prorated/annum. Language allowance, dependant on testing qualifications of $1,500 to $5,000 prorated/annum.

The Northern Allowance for Cambridge Bay is $19,716 prorated/annum.
