Job Title: Grade 9–12 Technology and Computer Science Teacher

Location: St. John’s-Kilmarnock School (SJK)
Position Summary:
SJK seeks a highly motivated and committed Grade 9–12 Design, Technology, and Computer Science Teacher to teach in our Upper School. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and innovative teacher who appreciates working in a collaborative environment and is dedicated to the highest standards of teaching and learning. The teacher will be responsible for teaching Grade 9 and 10 Technology and Grade 11 and 12 Computer Science.

Start Date: August 21, 2024
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Qualifications and Experience:
  • A Bachelor of Education Degree
  • Intermediate and Senior Divisional Qualifications
  • Teaching qualifications in Technology and Computer Science
  • An Ontario College of Teachers Certificate, or eligibility for teacher certification in Ontario
  • OCT Membership in good standing
  • Experience teaching and/or training in the International Baccalaureate MYP and DP is an asset
  • Independent school experience is an asset
  • Experience teaching in IB MYP Grade 9–10 Design, and IB DP Computer Science is an asset
  • Proficiency in more than one language is an asset
  • Training and engagement in inclusive education practices, including professional development related to inclusion, equity, social justice, and diversity

  • An ability to use and embed a variety of technology tools and applications to enhance learning and promote digital citizenship
  • Culturally responsive approaches to teaching and learning, but not limited to including Indigenous ways of knowing
  • A dynamic, inclusive, collaborative, dedicated team player with a strong work ethic
  • Willingness to learn and commitment to personal growth and development
  • Internationally-minded and open to supporting and cultivating partnerships locally, nationally, and globally

SJK is the leading co-educational independent school in the Waterloo Region of Ontario.
