We are seeking passionate & self-directed Teacher on call to join our team and collaborate with us in the expansion of our course offerings for Learners at our beautiful location in Ladysmith, BC on central Vancouver Island.
The opportunity
- You step in to support our students when their teacher is unavailable, whether for just a block or an extended leave
- You support students learning with innovative and unconventional learning opportunities, prioritizing land-based learning and integration of Stz’uminus & Coast Salish teachings
- You continuously develop relationships with your peer educator’s administration, students, families, partners & Community members
- You collaborate with educators throughout SES to enhance and lead explorations, projects, units and lessons
- You participate with dedication in all aspects of our school community including professional development
- You conduct & contribute to assessments of and learning, as well as metric and reporting requirements.
- You are a dedicated educator & lifelong learner who leads with relationship and respect
- You are confident with behaviour management and able to care for yourself and others in challenging situations
- You appreciate the variety of relationships and learning opportunities which teaching on call provides
- You recognize that the most impactful learning can happen outside of a conventional classroom
- You are a collaborative team player who respects and values what each member of the community contributes to education
- You are dedicated to incorporating our indigenous Coast Salish culture, hul’q’umi’num language and stz’uminus ways of knowing in your teaching and personal learning journey
- You are qualified in current good standing with the BC Teacher regulation Branch
- Eligibility for clearance of a Criminal Record Check for Working with Children & Vulnerable Adults
