The School Community is the environment in which the Near North District School Board strategically directs its work. School Communities provide opportunities to offer appropriate pathways for student learning. Learning pathways support all students, including those with special needs, or "at-risk" as they seek their post-secondary destination. Programs and services for students are provided in one or more community schools. The Near North District School Board plays a major role in the development and vitality of our "northern" community.
How to apply to be an Occasional Teacher
Candidates for the occasional teacher list must submit the following documents:
- Cover Letter that includes permission to contact references;
- Names of 3 professional references;
- For new graduates please include the names of your faculty advisor and two associate teachers;
- For experienced teachers please include the names of the three most recent principals or superintendents who have witnessed you teach.
- Copy of most recent performance appraisal or practice teaching report.
Interviews are conducted on an as-needed basis. This is an ongoing posting. Ongoing postings are not indicative of an immediate vacancy. As such, it is necessary for applicants to ensure that applications are kept up to date.
We recognize that some new teacher graduates or teachers trained outside of Ontario may not be approved by the College of Teachers in time for interviews held in the summer. Teachers in these situations can apply without proof of College of Teacher Certification and will be given until August 15 to provide their Certificate of Qualification.
