YORK CATHOLIC DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD 

Invites applications for the position of:

TEACHERS – REMEDIAL SKILLS DEVELOPMENT

NON-CREDIT GR. 7 -8 LITERACY & NUMERACY PROGRAMS

SATURDAY MORNINGS (28 CLASSES)

$47.07/hr

 

 

Dates: October 3, 2020- June 12, 2021

Times: 9:30 am-12:00 pm

Platform: Remotely

 

The Successful Candidate Will:

Deliver non-credit literacy and numeracy program for students in Gr. 7 -8

Implement program curriculum materials provided by the Board

Instruct students at various levels of reading, writing, mathematics, French, and science and social studies literature

Assist students requiring remedial support to complete assignments and prepare for assessments achieving levels 1 & 2

Provide cooperative and hands-on learning opportunities to enhance personal learning skills

Contact parents prior to the start of the program to confirm student placement and as needed for progress updates

Supervise arrival and departure of students

 

Required Qualifications/Experience:

 

A member in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers

Experience teaching in the Intermediate and/or Senior Divisions

Experience teaching English and/or Math programs

 

Desired Qualifications/Experience:

 

Previous experience in teaching the “Homework Helper” Continuing Education remedial support program

Experience working with grades Gr. 7 -8 Intermediate/Senior students

Experience with differentiated instruction and high-yield strategies

Ability to integrate 21st century learning strategies into the program

Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills
