Correspondence Program with Adult & Continuing Education
for the 2022/23 School Year
Adult & Continuing Education is accepting applications from current SCDSB teachers (only) for courses offered from grade 9 -12, all levels. Courses offered are determined by the Adult & Continuing Education Department.
We are accepting applications for Markers for the Adult Learning Centres in Alliston, Barrie, Bradford, Collingwood, Midland & Orillia.
Correspondence courses are offered through booklet and/or online formats using D2L. Correspondence courses are made up of 20 lessons representing the content and curriculum expectations of high school credit courses and one final exam. To earn the credit all 20 lessons must be evaluated and the student must pass the final exam. A provincial report card must be completed for the student. (Please note at this time final exams have been waived by the Ministry of Education; therefore a student’s final grade will be based on term work (20 lessons) only)
The job description is as follows:
- Maintain and monitor D2L course shell
- Receive student lessons through D2L or a SCDSB email account.
- Grade and provide feedback of student lessons through board email or return marked paper lessons to appropriate Learning Centre on a weekly basis. (5 business days)
- Call students who have not submitted lessons after 2 weeks to encourage commitment & completion
- Enter lessons marked, plus their dates into Power Teacher as completed
- Submit marking invoice to SAS-LC at appropriate Learning Centre according to the timesheet schedule
- Mark student final exam and return the final exam to the appropriate Learning Centre to be kept on file for one year
- Complete a provincial report card request for the student and email the request to assigned SAS-LC
Conditions of Position:
- 12 month assignment (September to August 31st)
- Rate of pay is $10.30 per lesson marked, plus final exam
Qualifications:
Required:
- Qualifications in one or more of the following subject areas:
- English Intermediate/Senior Qualifications
- Mathematics Intermediate/Senior Qualifications
- Sciences Intermediate/Senior Qualifications
- Geography Intermediate/Senior Qualifications
- History Intermediate/Senior Qualifications
- Physics Intermediate/Senior Qualifications
- Physical Education Intermediate/Senior Qualifications
- Social Studies Intermediate/Senior Qualifications
- Ability to work under strict timelines, strong organizational and written and oral communication skills
Preferred:
- Experience working in an online, eLearning environment preferred
