Educational Resource Worker

POSITION SUMMARY
Educational Resource Workers work as collaborative team members to facilitate the inclusion of students with differing abilities/diverse learning needs. The Educational Resource Worker is assigned to a Family of Schools and is accountable to the School Principal and/or Designate. Actual duties are assigned as determined by students needs as per Ministry of Education regulations and Board policies, procedures and practices.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Category 3(Certified):
• Diploma in Early Childhood Education (ECE), Educational Assistant (EA), or equivalent as deemed by the Employer.
• May be required to receive training in CPR, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention and/or other emergency techniques.
• Ability to work with differing abilities/diverse learning needs, strong interpersonal skills, good communication skills, ability to work as team member, flexibility, high degree of sensitivity and diplomacy, good organizational skills, experience in use of computer technology and/or other communication supports as appropriate, ability to deal with potentially stressful and emergent situations.
Category 1 (Uncertified):
• Secondary school diploma with entry level knowledge of Early Childhood Education (ECE) (EA) practices.
• 1 Year experience working with students with differing abilities/diverse learning needs preferred.
• May be required to receive training in CPR, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention and/or other emergency techniques.
• Ability to work with diverse learners, strong interpersonal skills, good communication skills, ability to work as team member, flexibility, high degree of sensitivity and diplomacy, good organizational skills, experience in use of computer technology, and/or other communication supports as appropriate, ability to deal with potentially stressful and emergent situations.
