We are seeking a creative, dynamic, committed professional to join our team:

Web Content Coordinator

100% Regular/Continuing
Monday - Friday, 35 Hours per Week
$75,000 to $88,200 (Union Exempt, Level 6)


Reporting to the General Manager of Communications, the Web Content Coordinator provides clients with strategic advice, options and/or approaches to meet communications objectives and reach targeted audiences through the district website; Works to strengthen relationships between the Board, its employees, parents/guardians/caregivers, partners and Trustees through the development and coordination of communications projects and issues management; is responsible for the development of content governance guidelines for tone, style, and voice of all content across the district website, developing and executing content strategies that align with the company's goals and objectives, including content writing, curation, editing, planning, and research. The Web Content Coordinator maintains an editorial calendar/workflow to ensure timely and efficient website content creation and updating of content as required.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism or a related field of study and 5 years of experience in web content management and writing for the web, communications, public relations or marketing.

  • Experience in strategic communications in a politically-focused environment (e.g. school board, post-secondary institution, or government) is a definite asset.

  • International Association of Business Communicators or Canadian Public Relations Society accreditation is an asset.

  • Expert knowledge of AODA and WCAG and communications principles and practices.

  • Interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills to exchange, clarify and provide information, direction and support to Board personnel and the public; and demonstrates sensitivity to community and social issues; Ability to use tact, diplomacy and discretion.

  • Organizational skills, as well as time management techniques for planning and prioritizing work; coordinating activities and/or special events; and managing multiple priorities and deadlines.

  • Strong writing skills for editing, drafting and creating media releases, announcements and speeches and other materials.

  • Good judgement skills when sharing information with the media, public or board personnel.

  • Computer skills, including social media platforms, presentation software, desktop publishing to accomplish work.

  • Access to reliable transportation for occasional travel to other school or administrative sites
